When we use the word “should,” we’re not accepting reality. We’re talking about things that we wish were so but aren’t.
•Should is a shame-based statement that creates stress and anxiety in your body and mind.
•Should indicates that there is a specific, correct way to do things. This is not true.
Should is usually based on the expectations of others. The belief we “should” do or be something is rooted in other people’s expectations — not our own.
The things we think we should do often don’t align with what we actually want.
